We have no special arrangements with the hotels but these are, in descending order of desirability in the unofficial opinion of the Event Steward (who spends 100+ nights a year in hotel rooms), some hotels that are the closest to the site. Crown Tourney Format
Pre-registration for An Tir September Crown Lists (This is the Crown tournament specifically, not the event) is open until 8/30 at:

Greetings good gentlefolk of An Tir,
The time is fast approaching for us to select Our Heirs so that the line of the Sable Throne may continue unbroken into the future. As is tradition, We shall hold Our Grand Tournament on Sunday of September Crown. Combatants and their consorts will present themselves before us in procession of reverse order of precedent Sunday morning. Challenge round to be immediately after.
We’ve heard the words of those who compete in the tournament as well as those who enjoy the pageantry, suspense, and ambiance of the tourney. To embrace those with a love of the field and those who hold dear the grandeur of An Tir’s traditional format, we have decided to hold a double elimination tournament with each round best 2 out of 3. (Note: should the entrants exceed 80, We will revert to a traditional single fight for the health and wellbeing of the fighters)
We encourage our potential Heirs to bring their most proficient fighting style, with the only prohibition that it match the legal weapons and shields guidelines per the An Tir Book of Combat.
An Tir has the richest tradition of inclusivity in the known world. We wholeheartedly support and encourage inspirational equality.
Equestrian Championship
The September Crown element of the new Championship format will be held at Campbell Downs Equestrian Centre across 16th Avenue from Camp McLean. This site is walkable from the main site, but there is also plenty of parking if people prefer to drive over.

| Location: Merry Minions Camp – Starfollower Field The instructors will be processing freshly harvested Woad leaves during the event from plants they both grew this year. If all goes to plan, they will also be dyeing some items. Anyone interested in seeing the process and magic of the indigotin transformation is welcome. |

| Student should have: note pad, pen or pencil, a cord or elastic to tie around the waist, measuring tape. Learn how to measure and pattern a qamis (Arabic, tunic/dress) and sirwal (Arabic, pants) which will be suitable for gentles of any sex/gender playing in el Andalus (Spain), the Maghreb (North Africa), southwest Asia, central Asia, the Balkans, northern India and parts of southeast Asia. The time period covered is 7th to 16th Centuries.
The following information will be covered: Variations in design & patterns – Construction techniques – Sex/gender differences in design, fabric, and embellishments; and Shopping for and adapting/altering ready-made garments. Handouts with pattern designs will be provided so that participants can record measurements. At the end of the class, attendees will have enough information to make mock-ups and finished garments at home as well as how to shop for and adapt/alter ready-made garments. |

| Learn one of the oldest methods of basket weaving and twine a tiny basket out of jute. With a base of eight spokes, we will use a long length of folded jute to twine around the spokes, creating a small, compact basket. A choice of rims will be laid down, and the ends woven in. All supplies are provided, but students may wish to bring their own small, sharp scissors. | |

| A Discussion on Natural Dyeing | Instructor: Margaret Hamilton of Stirlingshire |

| This class is a one-hour discussion on the steps necessary to dye with natural ingredients. It will detail scouring, mordanting, and dyeing, touching on natural ingredients for each step and modifiers than can create a range of colours out of one dye ingredient.
We will also discuss growing, harvesting, and gleaning natural dyes and how to prepare them for use in dyeing. As there is not enough time to do all the necessary steps this is a discussion only. I will provide a simple handout. A notebook and writing implement should be brought for any notes you wish to take. Afterwards we will stroll the site for approximately half an hour looking for ingredients you can use from our natural world. This should give you a solid bases to investigate your neighbourhood for items to glean for your own experiments in dyeing. Note that this is private land and thus should not be harvested. Plant material cannot cross international borders. Students should bring pen and paper for notetaking, camera if any plant pictures are desired for future reference Location: the picnic tables by the cabins. Note that some of the class involves walking so good shoes should be worn. If a student cannot walk, we can make arrangements for plant identification at a later time. |

| How do I get smooth edges? How can I keep track of my pattern steps? Why is my band UPSIDE DOWN? In this one-hour class I will share my tips and tricks for smooth edges, how not to lose your spot and deciphering patterns from different sources that always seem so confusing. This is not a “how to” class nor is it for the advanced weaver, it is tips to get beyond beginner. Bring your looms and your questions and maybe let’s just sit and tablet weave for a while. Handouts can be mailed after the class on request. | |
