Arts & Science Contest –
Accessories!

Greetings from the Scholar of Tir
Righ!

The clothes make the man…. but
the accessories complete the outfit!

I am sponsoring a contest, with a
due date of Tir Righ Investiture, Feb 17, 2018.

The entry requirements shall
be:
-must be a pre 1600 accessory to an outfit, not a main garment. So
socks, gloves, hats are ok, while pants, shirts, tunics or dresses
are not.
-one item or set of items (set of buttons, pair of socks, etc)
-construction of garment items will be primarily textiles (cloth or
garment leather). So a leather jerkin is good, leather armour not
good.
-non-garment items can be constructed of any material. Examples
might include a fan or jewelry.
-the item will be displayed on Saturday at the event, so that all
may see your project and read your documentation

Documentation:
-up to 1000 words (not including bibliography)
-up to 20 pictures (max 10 construction method, max 10 period
examples).

Entering an Arts & Science contest
can be intimidating, if your first time entry will be judged
against experts with a great deal of experience. I would like to
encourage participation from all levels of experience, so will
break the contest into three levels:

There will be three “levels”
of entry
Beginner: You have never entered an A&S contest before.
Experienced: You have entered at least one contest.
Expert / Open: If you have won a Branch Championship, or you are a
Laurel, you must enter at this level. You may also enter the Expert
category if you want the challenge of competing against Champions
and Laurels!

Please send me a message to
express your intent to enter by Feb 1st so that judges can be
sought. If you are not wanting to enter, but would like to judge,
please contact me!

I look forward to seeing your cool
stuff! Accessories make the difference between your kit looking
like a “costume”, or looking like the clothes of a person living in
history.

Yours in Service,
Conall, Baron of Seagirt
Scholar of Tir Righ

As A&S Craftsman for the Shire of Hartwood I
am offering an A&S/Largess competion. Competitors are asked to
provide 4 items; three of which will go to largess with the forth
going into the prize basket for the winner. Overall winner will be
decided by populas vote. Please ensure you tag all your items with
name and Shire/Barony.

As well there
will be Archery at Investiture! We will
run a short 20 yard tournament with some of favorite shoots over
the last couple of years. Helm shoots, sheep raiders,
andVikings.
