The Barony of Wastekeep and Vulcanfeldt are excited to be your
stewards and hosts for May Crown 2016.   Here are some
classes that will be offered at May Crown πŸ™‚



Classes

Saturday 21, 2016

 


11-12                   
Sing able Period
songs
~ come learn fun, historically accurate songs. No
experience required.


12-1pm               
Bodran
Improvisational drum session
. Learn basic bodhran drumming
techniques then jam with them. Bring your own drum and stick. No
experience required.


12:30-1pm         
Entering the Kingdom Bardic Championship Tourney: A
Pilgrimage of Discovery.
This open discussion is intended
to encourage and support bards in committing to entering the Bardic
Championship–whether in March 2017, or later years. Entering the
tourney is a long journey, with many milestones and much learning
along the way. As current Champion, I will describe some possible
paths, and offer resources, encouragement, and support to anyone
interested. Those who commit to the path will receive the first of
several “Pilgrim Badges,” to mark them as aspirants. Sir Martin le
Harpur, current Kingdom Bardic Champion.

Intro into Roman
Clothing
(costuming guild pavilion in A&S area)
Intro to Roman Clothing: Male, female,
and children’s garments and accessories, both under and outer
clothing. Focus   

                                       
Rome in the Late Republic, with forays to other times and
places.     


                 
1-2:30                 
Introduction into Documentation (located in the  Arts and Science
pavilion)

 


2:00 pm              
Costuming Guild
sewing class
(costuming guild pavilion) Introductory-level
classes finishing hems, seams, etc., no prior experience necessary.
I will provide all materials for 8 students, others are welcome to
observe.”


 


3:00 pm              
Cartridge
pleating
(costuming guild pavilion) introductory-level
classes, no prior experience necessary. I will provide all
materials for 8 students, others are welcome to
observe.”


                             
Renaissance lute for guitar players. Explore the
similarities and differences between the period and the modern,
with brief overview of tuning, right hand technique, and reading
period tablature, followed by individual instruction workshop. All
levels of musicians welcome. Bring a guitar and a willingness to
learn. Sir Martin le Harpur, current Kingdom Bardic Champion.


 

            
3-5 pm                
Ottoman
improvisational jam session
. Learn historical Ottoman
rhythms and musical modes, then jam with them. Bring drums, zills,
or whatever you have to make music.

All bardic classes will be
held in the Bards of An Tir encampment. Look for their Banner
flying high (Large banner with harp on a white background with
black and gold border
