The Shire of Dregate invites you
to the Festival of the Red Lanterns, celebrating the beginning of
the Year of the Fire Monkey. As the Fire Monkey is associated
with ambition, activity, smartness, mischief and adventure we will
be holding a variety of classes during the day. Check out our
Facebook page to see the list of what we are offering (please note
that some classes will have a class fee). We have limited space for
merchants, as this is a small venue but merchants are welcome for a
gate fee only, no added Merchant’s fee. A silent auction will be
held so clear out your SCA closets and baskets, and bring your
coins to bid on items that you are sure to want. If you come for
the day you will need to provide your own lunch and
drinks.

If our Dragon made it through
the Fire Storm, we will have plenty to Celebrate with a Dragon
Dance. Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to help tame the
Dragon for the evenings Festival.

We will have a Potluck feast
again this year. The Shire will provide meat dishes so we ask that
you please bring a dish to serve 12 and if you have a large family
or group please provide a separate dish for each group of four. Our
Feast Coordinator has researched a wide variety of recipes to fit
our theme of “Places the Mongols Invaded”. Please
contact her at her email address: CelenaJoehnk@gmail.com to determine what dish
or dishes you would like to bring. After looking over the list of
recipes you will appreciate the work Kayna has done for
you.
