All through the ever changing
seasons of the past year the Vinjar Champions have served our Shire
well. We thank them for their service and call upon them to render
one last service unto Vinjar. They invite all comers to participate
in tournaments of target archery, combat archery, heavy combat,
rapier and arts & sciences. The new Vinjar champions will be
selected by their skill, strength, and talents from all competitors
who are current SCA members. Their efforts will be rewarded with
title and loot! A great feast will be prepared for you by our
cooks; Lord Aonghus, Lady Cigale and Lady Emily the Serf. Breakfast
and Lunch will be available on site. Take part in our traditional
grape stomp with Lady Cigale. There are limited feast tickets and

Vinfest Site
Information

Camp Tamarack Day Camp. East side of Highway 40, South of Grande
Prairie, AB
The site is wheelchair accessible and has indoor showers/washrooms.
There is potable water available on site but no indoor kitchen
facilities for individual use.
There are cabin bunks and teepees available to rent for the
weekend. There is a charge for Tents, Trailers and RV’s. The
North and South ends of the parking lot are designated for RV and
trailer parking. There are no hook-ups. Hook-ups are available at
the private Camp Tamarack RV Park, which is located next door to
the site. There is no direct access between the RV Park and Camp
Tamarack except by the main road.
Tents can be put up on the grass except between cabins 2 & 3.
Any open area under the trees is also available to use. There is a
large grassy area where the ultra quiet cabins are located that we
can use for tenting as well. People can also tent along the ridge
overlooking the amphitheatre and heavy erics. The ground is sandy
and drains well. However, a ground sheet is recommended for under
tents. Please come well prepared for cool weather
camping.

Some things to be aware of …

1. Prior to unloading and setting up, please check in at the Troll
Gate, which can be found in the Hall.
2. Vehicles under ¾ ton can travel the paved walkways to the
cabins for loading and unloading. Please stick to the right and
travel very slowly.
3. Those that camp in teepees need to understand that when a fire
is lit inside, the ventilation flap needs to be pulled aside. The
outdoor kitchen in the teepee area is stocked with propane and wood
for the fire pit.

4. Fire use – Same as Quad War … “Ground fires will
not be allowed. The use of above ground covered brazier or similar
device may be used but are subject to weather conditions.” No fire
is to be left unattended and must be extinguished after use. Each
fire will have at minimum, 1 fire extinguisher, and or sand bucket
with shovel, available for quick use in case of an
emergency.” Take care in placing braziers to ensure that the
spreading branches of a pine tree are not directly overhead. There
are two fire pits that may be used. One is located at the Bardic
pit to the east of the Hall. The second is located between cabins 1
and 2. Dry firewood is available on site at no cost.
5. Please remember this is prime bear country, there may be bears
on site. Store food safely. Do not store food in your tents or in
the teepees. Please clean up after preparing food and throw your
waste away in the garbage bin provided at the southwest corner of
the parking lot. Grey water from washing dishes may be dumped at
the base of your closest friendly tree. Please do not use the
washrooms to clean dishes. There is a small kitchenette in the
restroom/shower building that may be used for washing dishes.
7. There is a large cooler in the hall that we can use to store
important stuff like medicines and easily perishable foods.
8. Assorted hot beverages including coffee and tea will be
available in the hall for the duration of the event.
9. Several rakes will be available for use on site. They will be
found at the wood shed to the north of the Hall.
10. Pets are welcome on site as long as they are under control at
all times – leashed or tethered. Owners are responsible for
cleaning up after their pets. Pets are not allowed in the buildings
on site.
11. There is an outdoor smoker’s lounge area just to the
north of the main entrance to the hall. To reduce the risk of fire,
this is the only area on site where smoking can occur.
