The Summer Tourney
Season Is Upon Us!

Let it be known to all gentles of these lands that the fair
Shire of
Dragon’s Mist will hold its Defenders Tournament August
1-3
. We
will be choosing our new Heavily Armored, Rapier, Archery,
and Arts &
Sciences Defenders!

Dates:
Friday August 1
through Sunday
August 3

Site opens Friday at 10am for set-up and merchants and at
2pm
for
populace.
Shire Moot will be held see Schedule for time
Everyone must be off-site by 5pm.

 
Childrens Activities:
Archery
Arts & Science
Dragon’S Mist Jr. A&S competition
Ages 8 and
under
1.  They will show (in picture form) or tell what they
like about coming to an SCA event.
OR
2.  They will show (in a Picture) or tell about
piece of clothing that they would have worn if they had lived
in the era that they pretend to live in at an SCA event.
Ages 9 to
14:
1.  This age group will show, in any media such as
pictures, storytelling, etc., what it would be like to be a
teenager in the times that their persona would have lived.
example. What type of chores they would be doing if
they lived in the 13th centruy?  What would you wear as
clothing back in the 11th century?
OR
2.  They will show any crafts or gifts such as music,
wood working, anything they think that is of special ability.
Dragon in any Medium: 
This contest will take
place Saturday, with the winner(s) announced Saturday evening
at Shire Moot. We will be accepting ballots for Populace’
Choice and Judge’s Choice.

Your dragon can be in literally ANY medium; for those
deciding the contest, it’s frequently like comparing kumquats
to fir trees to wolverines. We’ve seen everything from
archery targets to sculpture to kites to food to…you name
it! Be creative and have fun with the theme! 😀

No documentation required, but if you feel your entry needs
some
explanation, by all means include it. If you have any

Bardic: 
The bardic will run again this year we are looking for the
best story, song, or performance of the night.  If you
dont perform thats ok to come and let your voice be heard by
letting us know what you think of the nights
performance.  We can’t wait to hear from you.

Cost:
weekend $15 per adult
$6 per child (6 years old and up)
$40 family cap (4+ family members)


 
Day trip $10 per adult
$4 per child (6 years old and up)
$28 family cap (4+ family members)
Free for children under 5 years old
$3 additional non-member charge where applicable

Also:
Drinking water is available on-site
you water must be transported
This site is discreetly wet

 
 
Pets: As per An Tirian custom, pets must be
on a leash at all times
Please bring your own day shades, chairs and tables as there
is no
seating provided
No electricity or RV hookups.

 
No open fires or open candles; enclosed candles and propane
fires
okay due to fire hazard conditions.
Please note: cell phone reception is poor at this site.

They have Peacocks! Peacocks can be noisy at night and early
in the
morning. Bring earplugs if this will be a problem for
you.

specializing in period-style portraiture.

Calling all Merchants: Come and
support your local Branch or  help support the Dragon’s
Mist Defenders Tourney.  There is plenty of space and
time for you to setup and tear down.  You have a
front row seat to many of the activities and to the
populace. 
We would like to have more merchant at our
event.  Please contact us in regards to attending.

Volunteers Needed:
Gate, Set-Up/Clean- Up, firewatch, waterbearing, etc.
You name it, we’ll put you to work. But you also need to have
fun,
so please limit volunteering to a few hours and we’ll all
have a great
time.

Tables and Canapys:
If you have extra
tables or canapys, please bring them for A&S
displays. We’re hoping not to rent tables if we can avoid
it.
