This summer marks the 20th anniversary of the knighting of Wyewood’s Royal Patron, Earl Edward Cire of Greymoor. To mark this occasion, Earl Cire has declared a weekend of celebration, featuring tournaments, a market place, bardic arts, archery, and revelry. Also on tap for the event is a reprise of last year’s very popular Mostly Fibers event, featuring hands-on classes in numerous fiber arts. Please mark your calendar and plan on attending!

Heavy Fighting:

As a late 12th century Anglo-Norman knight, Earl Cire has designed the tournaments based on descriptions of the tournaments of William Marshal’s youth. On Saturday there will be two tourneys. The first is a ransom tourney benefiting the Raven Travel Fund, with ransoms paid on a graduated scale according to SCA rank. Following this there will be a 5-man melee team tourney, where the losing team in each round will join the team that defeated them for the next round. For those who did not get enough fighting on Saturday, there will also be a hunt on Sunday. Suitable prizes will be awarded to the victors in each tournament. For details, see http://slumberland.org/acc-mft/heavyfighting.html.

Market Place:

Since the good Earl has declared a market day for Wyewood, we will be setting up a Market Place at the event. Merchants bring your wares and set up your stalls upon the village green! Shoppers bring your purses and peruse the treasures that the merchants have to offer! Merchant fees for this event are $2.00 per foot of frontage. For details, see http://slumberland.org/acc-mft/marketplace.html.

Bardic Arts:

On Saturday evening there will be a bardic competition with a theme of chivalry. Suitable prizes will be awarded to performers based on both performance and content. For more information, see http://slumberland.org/acc-mft/bardicarts.html.

Mostly Fibers Too:

Experience the fun of fiber arts first hand! Wonderful hands-on classes (fiber related and some not so fibrous) are being scheduled. The list is still growing and there are plenty of time slots if you want to teach something. Did you miss Mostly Fibers last year? Do you need a break from wars and battles? Ready to learn some of the skills needed to keep the manor running smoothly? Then this is definitely for you! For more information including class listings, see http://slumberland.org/acc-mft/mostlyfibers.html.
