NORSE HARVEST FEAST, Akornebir (Walla Walla, WA) November 2, 2002

Scandinavians and Norsemen and Vikings, oh my! Can’t get enough of those horny-helmeted fellows? Come to Akornebir’s festival of harvest and enjoy the best in Viking hospitality!

During the day there will be a heavy fighter’s holmgang tournament and a bridge defender’s prize tourney fought across a picturesque stone bridge. Not a fighter? Amuse yourself with period board and card games, informal (non-Ithra) classes on Norse culture, the ever-popular hunkerhausen (if you don’t know, you have to show up to find out!), dancing, and more! Prizes for smalls in Norse outdoor and board games.

In the evening there will be feasting and merry-making. The feast, served to our guests in the traditional Akornebirian manner by members of the Canton, will be potluck. (Mundane last name A-F: side dish/salad, G-N: main dish, O-T: dessert, U-Z: bread & cheese.) A bardic will be held during the meal for entertainment (please remember that smalls will be in attendance), with dancing and revelry to follow.

The site is the College Place Lion’s Memorial Hall, College Place, WA. Site fee is $5 ($8 for non-members), smalls 2-10 $3 ($6 non-member), under 2 free (make checks payable to “Canton of Akornebir, SCA Inc.”), and a $20 family cap ($30 non-member). The site will open at 10 am and close at midnight. The feast site is DRY, but alcohol will be permitted in the park grounds surrounding the hall. Autocrats: Tighearn Iain MacMillan (mka Erik Jensen), jensenew@whitman.edu; Lord Malekith (mka Dee Allen), (509) 525-2596.

DIRECTIONS: FROM EAST: Take highway 12 west, passing through Walla Walla. Exit left onto Gose Street. Gose will become College Avenue. Continue down College Ave, then take a left on 8th street. The hall and park are 4 blocks down, with a large parking lot in front.

FROM WEST: Take highway 12 east. Exit right onto Gose Street. Follow the above instructions to the site.
