The Port of Silcott is once again besieged by roving bands of brigands from the East, and South, and Nor… well from all over. Thus do we call for aid from our Great Neighbors, those brave souls of the Inlands! Ties of old call to the Baronies of Wastekeep, Wealdsmere, and Vulkanfeldt, as well as good cousins throughout the lands. Come to our aid, and a share of our bounty! Fighting and food, merry-making and mead! Let us all protect these lands of our Great King and Queen from the foul highwaymen.

EVENT SITE: Chief Timothy State Park, Silcott Island, Clarkston, WA 99403 Site opens Friday at noon – merchants and those needing an earlier arrival, please contact the event steward. Site closes at 2pm Sunday.

FEES: Ages 18 & up $25, youth under 18 free. $5 discount for SCA blue card members. Checks payable to COLLEGE OF LYONSMARCHE.

Driving Directions:

From the west: Follow Highway 12 towards Clarkston, WA. At the bottom of Alpowa Grade (approximately 5 miles before Clarkston), take a left and cross over the bridge to Silcott Island.

From the north, east, and south: Take US-95 or Highway 12 through Lewiston and Clarkston headed west to the Tri-Cities. Approximately five miles west of Clarkston there is a bridge to the right crossing over to Silcott Island.

RV’s:  If you want hookup, you need to go through the campground website (https://www.camplife.com/campground/Chief+Timothy+Park).  If you don’t need a hookup, there is flat parking just northwest of the boat launch (ask for directions at gate) that is free to use.

Tournament Information

  • Most Delicious Dish using Lentils: You may use a Modern recipe and ingredients. Most Delicious Dish using Lentils from a period source. Please include documentation for this. For Both contests the dish may be made ahead of time or onsite, include recipe, use best food hygiene practices. Work in teams or as an individual are both acceptable. You may submit more than one entry. Kingdom Device of or on Any Material. You may use the AnTir Populace Device or the Artemesian Populace Device, or both. (Iron? Clay? Wool? Cake? Skin? Paper?) If there is enough interest, we can have contests for an individual effort and a team effort. Your submission may be done ahead of time or onsite.
  • There will be an archery tournament!  Details to follow, or best round.

CLASSES AT HONOR WAR
Intro to Netmaking Nets taught by: Honorable Lord Egil Threehammer.
Nets can be made with just string, a couple basic tools, and one simple knot Besides fishing nets, the same technique makes cargo nets, hair nets, and some types of lace. We will cover the history of nets, a demo of netmaking, and an opportunity to try it yourself!
No fee, nothing people need to bring. I’ll bring netmaking supplies for 8 people, but more can watch (or trade off with equipment).
Hour long class.

Do you have a burning question about Heraldry you’ve been wanting to ask? Come meet a Herald Extraordinary and talk about names, armory and court Heraldry!
Class size is not limited, no fee and just bring paper for notes.
Class will run an hour or longer.

A History of Western Cosmology An overview of how people thought of the universe. I will focus on how observations of the stars and planets shaped astronomer’s views of the solar system and the universe as well as adding a modern perspective with the benefit of hindsight. I will be covering material from Aristotle to Kepler and there is no background knowledge necessary. I will have approximately ten handouts, but more people are welcome to come if they are willing to share.

Rapier Spear Experiment, by Gregorio Cristovalez de La Vega, OW, OL, MoD
We will discuss the current spear experiment in terms of scope. basic rules, and how to get involved. The class will also cover current and best practices for training and striking and get some hands-on experiments with the spears being used. Student’s wishing to engage in hands-on work should bring their fencing masks, gorget, and gloves, and should otherwise armor to comfort. You will have the opportunity to give and receive spear strikes under drill conditions.

Introduction to Nalbinding,  by Tova Fransdottir
Learn the oslo and mammen stiches as well as a round start for hat making.
I will supply a plastic yarn needle and enough yarn for the class.  If you have a bone or wood nalbinding, then please bring it. If you want to continue a project this weekend, then please bring something like Patons Wool Roving which is fluffy or a piled 100% wool yarn.

This Fingerloop braiding class will focus on the 15th Century 5-loop pattern. If time permits, then I will introduce you to 16th Century pattern. Please bring scissors
