The Sable Lions
take their rightful place at the head of the pride of An Tir,
in the fullness of their youth and strength. They look from
the mount of leadership over the savannah that is
theirs, at the flourishing herds, the strong and well-fed
members of the pride, and they are pleased with what they see.

Yet, being wise as
well as mighty, they foresee a day when the sun
shall set on their reign, and, wishing that the pride of
An Tir retain its strength and glory, they act
to ensure the pride’s future.

Thus have
they decreed that, on the weekend of the 18th of
May, Anno Societatis LIII, being in the Gregorian 2018,
in the lands of
the Shires of Ramsgaard and Krakafjord,
those lions who would vie to take their place upon the mount of
leadership shall gather and meet in honourable combat, the victors
of which shall win the right to succeed Their Majesties upon the
Lion Thrones, at such time as the sun sets on the current
reign.

Their Majesties
invite all those within their lands to come to the meeting
place, to witness this mighty contest of arms, to take
joy in this event, to compete in other activities, andto
revel and bask in Their Leonine glory.

So come,
pride of An Tir, to the meeting place, being the
Salmon Arm Fairgrounds, 481 5th Ave SW, Salmon Arm, BC
V1E 1V4, Canada, and witness the epic clash
of fang and claw.

The head of the Event
Steward team is the renowned HL Conn McRoy, who

A&S ACTIVITIES:

Dirty Dozen Donation Derby

Greetings! There will be a Dirty
Donation Derby held at May Crown this year. These competitions are
a great way to help your Kingdom in a fun and personal way. All
donations are greatly appreciated and much needed.

The Dirty Dozen Donation Derby was
created to encourage the creation of Largess through friendly
competition. Entrants create 12 items; the theme is up to the
entrant. Remember that these items will be gifted as largesse, so
while a dozen scissor cases would qualify, a dozen hand knit socks
would only be 6 largesse items.

The items need not be identical,
just related in some way. Examples of past entries include
needle-books, hats from different (or the same) period(s), dolls,
earrings, rings, beads, children’s toys, game sets, spindles,
bobbins, sewing kits, pouches… the list goes on and on!

RULES

  •
    • Each entry must contain 12 items. You may enter more than once,
but please make each entry a different type of item.
    • You may enter as a group, just remember that the items should
all be related in some way.
    • Documentation is not necessary, but it needs to be an item
      usable in the SCA.
    • Item should be handmade (purchased items that are
      altered/painted are allowed).
    • Each item must be tagged in such a way that the tags wont get
separated from the item (no loose cards please). Include your name
and local group information on your tag. Some additional
information about the item is nice as well.
  • VOTING

Voting shall be popular vote. There
will also be a Majesties’ choice.

PRIZE
The winner by vote shall receive their pick of one item from each
of the other contestants, up to 12 items. Their Majesties choice
shall receive an item of their choosing.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE REST?
The remaining Largess items shall be gifted to Their Majesties to
share with others the talent and bounty of our artisans.

For more information, contact
Dame Arianna Freemont arianna_freemont(at)shaw(dot)ca.

Painters of Charters Needed

We have arranged for a Scribal Table
to be set up in the A&S Classroom Hall just for Painters of
Charters and other interested Scribalists.

Bring along your paints, brushes and
other supplies and join us on Saturday from 10AM to 4PM to paint
some charters.

Don’t have your charter painting
supplies? That’s okay. We will have extra supplies for you to
use… And lots of charters.

Never painted charters and want to
give it a try? We will have charters from previous reigns on hand
for you to try out and practice on.

For more information please
contact Taliesin Ap Hafgan or Lisa Mohr.

“I take great pride that I am a part of an organization that
believes in leaving our sites better than we found them. It is my
sincere hope we show the site owners how great a steward of their
site we can be. Please help us make an extra effort to make an
excellent impression.” ~ Conn McRoy
