Newcomer’s Encampment
– Canton of Akornebir

May 01, 2009 to May 03,
2009

New to the SCA or know someone you would like to get
interested?  Come to the Canton of Akornebir’s
Newcomer’s Encampment for a weekend filled with
learning and an introduction to the SCA. First, if any member
has someone they know who is not a member, non-members get
into this event for $3 as long as they accompany a
member.  To make this a truly enjoyable experience for
those who stop to look, volunteer companions will be paired
with new folks at the gate.

There will be free classes all weekend geared toward those
looking for an introduction to the society.  Already a
member?  Then come and teach; those interested in
teaching a class please contact the autocrat and get on the
schedule.  Teachers get in for half the gate fee.
Not the teaching type? Then come and test your skill in our
youth and heavy combat championships.

Speaking of classes, this is a great opportunity for new
instructors to “get their feet wet” and teach a beginning
level class.  All instructors get into the event for the
weekend for just $5.  Please send me an e-mail ASAP if
you have any questions or if you would like to teach
something – anything.  This is not an Ithra so really
when I say anything I mean ANYTHING (SCA appropriate of
course).  Saturday class time is now filled
– there is still room for Sunday thuogh so please let me
know ASAP if you would like to teach.

There will be a feast and bardic in the evening the Canton
will provide a main meat the rest is potluck style.  The
site is discretely wet those who are planning to bring pets
please make sure you have shot documentation at the gate when
you arrive on site, mundane leash laws apply.

Tables for feast are really needed all of the picnic tables
in the park are chained down… those who have spare
tables and bring them for feast will be greatly
appreciated.

RV Information:
RVs can be parked in the general parking area for the event
for free there is, however, no hook ups in the general
area.  If hookups are needed, the fee is $15 per day and
the hook up area is at the fairgrounds just a few blocks away
from the event.  Please e-mail the autocrat ASAP if hook
ups are needed and you will be sent a form to fill out for
the hook ups.

Camping Info:
The city requests no stakes longer than 10”.
Water is available on site, flushies and no showers.
Above ground fires only, 12” please.
