Come celebrate the harvest with Danescombe and the Principality's Heirs, TE Wrenn and Owain! Each year for one night, Danescombe becomes a Republic and is governed by the Doge. Reigning Doges hardly ever survive the last remove of the annual Machiavelli feast and it is up to the populous to select a successor by the end of the night's festivities. In honour of Niccolo Machiavelli, chivalry, honour, trust, and loyalty are abandoned. Instead Danescombe's Court becomes a hotbed of intrigue, treachery, and assassination! The only rule is: there are no rules!  Join in the ballet box stuffing, campaigning and general mayhem to see who will be our next Doge.

There will be a tournament during the day to decide the Shire's heavy defender, starting at 1pm. It will be a standard double-elimination tournament unless there are not enough entrants, in which case it will be a round-robin style tournament.

A rapier prize tournament will be held at 11 am; inspirations are mandatory and will play a key role in the tournament. The format will be decided upon once it is known how many have signed up for the lists.

Think you have what it takes to become the Bardic Defender of Danescombe?

During the Potluck at Machiavelli will be a Bardic Competition. Last year's competition displayed an array of talent and hopefully this year will be no different. This will be a no-holds-barred competition for a no-holds-barred event–any type of talent is acceptable. Performances must be period but documentation won't be necessary. Extra points will be awarded for originality, presentation, and ability to make the judges laugh. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact Ciara LaFiamma at silent_girl_@hotmail.com

For potluck contributions, contact Harleigh MacDhaiDue at harleigh@shaw.ca to let him know what you are bringing, or for suggestions. There will be a kitchen available for reheating and cold storage.

Day food will be available for a small fee: enjoy chili con carne with a bun, a veggie platter with dip, and sweet goodies for dessert.

Site fees: $7 for adults, no NMS. Children 8 years and under are free.

Site opens at 10am.
