AFTERNOON There will now be a fighting workshop from 1-4 pm
on Saturday afternoon in the parking lot of the Masonic Hall
(evening revel site) His Majesty Thorin will be there with
his armour as will His Highness Kheron. Sir Bolverk will be
holding a female fighting workshop. Come one, come all

HEAR YE! HEAR YE! The Barony of Lions Gate does hereby invite
the populace of An Tir to their fair lands to witness and
hear the glorious sounds of the Kingdom’s finest bards vying
for the title of Kingdom Bard!!!!!! This championship will
take place on the 25th and 26th of September later in this
year. The Barony invites all to attend the first day of
contest at the fair College of Douglas in bright New
Westminster, BC. There will be some Ithra courses available
on the Saturday, look for a schedule to follow, as well as
the chance to listen to the contestants. All may then proceed
to a wondrous hall in the evening for a potluck revel where
the Barony shall provide the main course, with vegetarian
option, as well as lemonade. Please see below for potluck
contributions. During the evening revel, the audience appeal
portion of the Championship will be brought forth for the
enjoyment of all. The competing bards shall display their
finest in order to entertain the populace. There will also be
dancing, games and , courtesy of the NSCA, a tavern. On
Sunday, in the same hall, please join in the witnessing of
the final portion where those with the highest Saturday
scores will compete for the championship and the Kingdom Bard
shall be declared!!!!! Also enjoy a fine lunch courtesy of
the Barony of Lions Gate. I, as autocrat hope that one and
all will come out to support our fine bards in their

welcome, though space is limited so registration is required
to guarantee space, there will be no additional fee. For day
food, there is a cafeteria in the college as well as a
college deli in the next corridor from the one we will be
using. Look for fund-raising efforts throughout the event,
bring your purses filled with coin. Accessibility: Though the
College on Saturday is fully wheelchair accessible, the
Masonic Hall on Sat. evening and Sunday does have stairs at
both entrances. Once inside, the activities are on one floor
with easy access washrooms. The hall is 4 city blocks (2 down
and 2 over) from the college. Pets: None allowed in the
college except seeing eye dogs. None allowed at the Masonic
Hall except the Baronial greyhound. (Problems? talk to me!)

BREADS, CHEESES, PICKLES K-M—- DESSERTS N-R—– VEGETABLE
DISHES, SALADS, VEGGIE PLATTERS, GLAZED CARROTS ETC. S-Z—-
GRAIN DISHES, PASTA, RICE, LENTILS AND LEGUMES ETC…. Or as
you wish, especially if you have a great period dish you
always make, or a period dish you always wanted to make or a
period..well you get the idea. evening schedule is as follows

closes SITE FEES: $20 CAN or $15 US per adult ( $16/ $12 with
member discount) This covers admission on Sat, revel fee on
Sat. evening, admission on Sunday as well as Sunday lunch. $
8 CAN or $ 6 US for children 5-17 covers same as above Family
cap is $ 56 CAN or $42 US ( $48/$36 with member discount)
Revel fee only, $9 CAN or $7 US ($5/$4 with member
discount)for adults $3 CAN or $ 2 US for children 5-17
children under 5 free Family cap $24 CAN or $18 US ( $16/$12
with member discount) FAMILY CAP POLICY FOR KBC: “The purpose
of a family cap is to lessen the costs for a family to attend
an SCA event. It is based on a two adult and two minor
household. Additional children are admitted at no charge. To
qualify for the family cap, the individuals involved need to
be either, a biological or blended family residing in the
same location. This would include children and/or
stepchildren, parents and/or domestic partners. Same sex
domestic partners are included in this definition. The family
cap has never been to accommodate SCA house-holds, or
families where the children are over 18, whether or not they
live at the same physical address. The Non Member Surcharge
is added on the top of the family cap, it applies to all
non-member adults attending an SCA event. Minors are never
charged the Non Member Surcharge when there is a discounted
minor rate.” Site opens 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday for the
college, 6 pm to midnight on Saturday for the Masonic Hall
and 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday at the Masonic Hall ALCOHOL:
There will be a licensed tavern, courtesy of the NSCA, so all
local mundane liquor laws will be observed. No outside
alcohol allowed. Please contact HL Kenzie McBeighn at
kensae@shaw.ca for special requests for the bar, no
guarantees. As per Kingdom requirements: ” BEWARE when
drinking from someone else’s cup. Make sure you know the
person and are *very sure* of what is in the cup *before*
taking a drink. Occasionally, we will be hiring mundane law
enforcement officers to patrol in garb with our constables at
Kingdom events. Be sure to strictly observe all mundane laws”
Hotels and Crash space: The Royal Towers hotel (604 524-3777)
is mere blocks away from the site, easy walking distance.
Anyone wanting crash space should contact the autocrat.
Directions: The site address is, 700 Royal Ave New
Westminster BC. from within Vancouver, take Marine Dr to New
Westminster, note that Marine changes into Stewardson Way.
Take Royal Ave, a left turn. The small parking lot on 8th St
just south of Royal Ave is closest to the rooms in use at
Douglas College. Enter the college from the 8 th Street
entrance. Use the entrance with the big set of stairs, the
only ones.(there is a wheelchair walkway to the left of the
stairs if needed) Go up one level on the stairs, turn right
and look for the entrance on the side of the building,
alternatively look for yellow SCA signs. >From the East,
take either the 7 (Lougheed Hwy) or 1 (Transcanada Hwy) to
Brunette Ave. South on Brunette as it turns into Columbia St,
a sharp right onto McBride Blvd, followed by the first left,
onto Royal Ave. Left at 8th St, and park in the lot
immediately on your right as above. Enter the college from
the 8 th Street entrance. Use the entrance with the big set
of stairs, the only ones.(there is a wheelchair walkway to
the left of the stairs if needed) Go up one level on the
stairs, turn right and look for the entrance on the side of
the building, alternatively look for yellow SCA signs.
>From the States, take the 99A ( King George Hwy) north to
the Patullo Bridge. >From the I5, this is the first major
exit off the 99 in Canada. From the truck crossing, continue
north on 176 (Hwy 15), and turn left onto the 1A (Fraser Hwy)
and follow as it merges with the 99A, and crosses the Patullo
Bridge. Take the Royal Ave exit after the bridge, and circle
under to be West bound on Royal Ave. Turn left at 8th St and
find parking. Enter the college from the 8 th Street
entrance. Use the entrance with the big set of stairs, the
only ones.(there is a wheelchair walkway to the left of the
stairs if needed) Go up one level on the stairs, turn right
and look for the entrance on the side of the building,
alternatively look for yellow SCA signs. Please watch for SCA
signs. Most are shield shaped, yellow with black arrows.
