North Winter Event & Rapier Championship
November 23, 2002
Barony of Lions Gate

In addition to the rapier championship tourney, this one day event will include an armoured prize tournament as well as an arts & sciences guild fair. The rapier tournament format will be a round robin leading into an elimination round. As required by Kingdom law, all rapier competitors must have their SCA membership to enter, as the champion is also a principality officer. Furthermore, combined blade length will be limited to 62 inches.

The armoured tournament will be sponsored by Jarl Hwolf, with the format to be announced later. For details on the guild faire, contact the principality A&S Minister, HL Aelana Cordovera.

In the evening there will be a tavern night with a cash bar, so all can share their stories of glory and mayhem (whether on or off the listfield) over a friendly drink. Other tavern activities will include dancing and games, so there should be something to entertain everyone!

Merchants are welcome and there will be no additional merchant fee or prize donation required. Please contact Lady Genevieve Barbota of Gryphonshold for more information.

Please note there will not be any food providers at the site, though there are numerous eating places within walking or short driving distance.

Site Information:
Maritime Labour Centre, 1880 Triumph Street,
Vancouver BC. The event opens at 9:00a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 and closes at 1:00a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, with the tavern night beginning around 8:00p.m. There will be a cash bar at this event; therefore, do not bring any of your own alcohol, as it will violate the liquor license. The fees are Cdn$10 per adult, $5 per child 12 to 6 and 5 and under free, with a family cap of $30. For latecomers (after 8 pm) the site fee will be $5. There are no extra fees for merchants. Please make any cheques payable to the “Barony of Lions Gate”.
